MEET JACK

MEET JACK SMITH
Dedicated Leadership for Clallam County

For the past 12 years, I have been proud to call Clallam County home. During that time, I have looked for the right opportunity to serve this community in a meaningful way. I believe serving as Clallam County PUD Commissioner, District #2, is that opportunity.

I bring 34 years of utility management experience, including work with Snohomish County PUD, a public electric and water utility; Avista Utilities, a private electric and gas utility; and the City of Seattle’s Office of Housing HomeWise Program, which served low-income customers through energy conservation and housing support.

The majority of my career has been focused on conservation, customer service, utility
operations, and helping people use energy and water more efficiently. I have also presented at three national conferences and taught several workshops through the Northwest Public Power Association.

Clallam County deserves reliable service, responsible decision-making, and leadership that understands both the technical side of utilities and the real needs of the people they serve. My experience has prepared me to listen, lead, and make thoughtful decisions for our community.

Outside of work and public service, Jack Smith is first and foremost a devoted husband, father, and family man. Jack has been married to his wife, BJ, for 61 years, a remarkable testament to commitment, loyalty, and love. Together, they have built a life centered around family, raising three sons: Derin, Jerrod, and Jason. That kind of lasting dedication says a great deal about Jack’s character. He understands responsibility, patience, and the importance of showing up for the people who count on him most.

Family has helped shape the person Jack is today: grounded, steady, and guided by values that do not change with the moment. His life reflects the belief that strong communities begin with strong families and genuine relationships.

Jack is also a drummer, and music has been a meaningful part of his life. As any musician knows, drumming takes timing, discipline, focus, and the ability to listen closely to others. Those qualities carry into the way Jack approaches the world. He knows when to lead, when to support, and how to keep things moving with purpose.

Jack Smith is more than a name on a ballot. He is a husband, father, musician, and someone whose life reflects commitment, character, and heart.
